WHO
IS MARRIAGE WORKS?
We
are a Healthy Marriage Initiative, formed to enhance the wellness
and wholeness of marriages and relationships, and the children involved.
We are a federally funded partnership of three local organizations:
The
Center for Urban Bilbical Ministry
The
Center for Urban Biblical Ministry (CUBM) is an urban outreach of
Geneva College, Beaver Falls located and operating in the Point
Breeze area of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The Reformed Presbyterian
Theological Seminary has provided space for CUBM to hold classes
since its inception in 1988. CUBM is the product of a group of visionary
urban church leaders who wanted to provide formal education and
credentialing for church ministers and lay leaders. However, over
the years, our student body has grown in diversity and size and
today our student body is culturally diverse with one thing in common–they
are all Christ-centered.
Our
Mission is to educate urban students in southwestern Pennsylvania
for effective service in their local communities through accredited
Bible based degree programs and other learning experiences in a
Christian community where meaningful relationships with others of
diverse backgrounds are encouraged.
The
National Fatherhood Initiative
National
Fatherhood Initiative’s mission is to improve the well being
of children by increasing the proportion of children growing up
with involved, responsible, and committed fathers. NFI accomplish
its mission through a “three-e” strategy of:
• Educating and inspiring all Americans, especially fathers,
through public awareness campaigns, research, and other resources.
• Equipping fathers and developing leaders of national, state,
and community fatherhood initiatives through curricula, training,
and technical assistance.
• Engaging every sector of society through strategic alliances
and partnerships.
Family
Guidance, Inc.
Family
Guidance’s, Inc. exists to bring hope and a future in Jesus
Christ to vulnerable children and families of all cultures throughout
western Pennsylvania. For 43 years, Family Guidance
has been serving at-risk youth with successful and innovative mentoring,
after-school and camping programs.
Recognizing
that dealing with root causes is essential to meeting the needs
of at-risk youth, Family Guidance has pioneered preventive, pro-active
solutions to marriage and family issues that create at-risk environments
for children. As a result, Family Guidance has partnered with
national organizations and community churches and groups to provide
three family and marriage initiatives: the Partnership for
Families, the Marriage Works and most recently TWOgether
Pittsburgh.
These
organizations have a wealth of experience in working with families.
We
are sponsored by a grant from the Administration for
Children and Families and The Department
of Health and Human Service Children's Bureau.
